28 Mosques to Open on Friday

Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf is continuing its efforts to develop and maintain mosques across the country, with 28 mosques scheduled to open on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The new openings include 5 newly constructed mosques, 11 mosques that have undergone replacement and renovation, and 12 mosques that have been maintained and upgraded.

Total Number of Mosques Opened Since July 2026

The Ministry of Awqaf announced that the total number of mosques opened since the beginning of July 2026 has reached 263 mosques.

The figure includes 178 mosques that were newly constructed or subjected to replacement and renovation, in addition to 85 mosques that underwent maintenance and development.

The ministry also stated that the total number of mosques that have been replaced, renovated, maintained, and furnished since July 2014 has reached 14,942 mosques, with total expenditure estimated at approximately EGP 29.131 billion.

The Friday opening schedule covers several governorates across Egypt.

Damietta

  • Al-Rahman Mosque in Abu Ghazi village, Kafr Saad, has undergone replacement and renovation.

Matrouh

  • Luqman Mosque in Village 21 of Banger El-Sokkar, El-Hammam, has undergone replacement and renovation.

Beheira

  • Al-Bahri Mosque in El-Insha village, El-Rahmaniya, has undergone replacement and renovation.

  • Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque in Nekla El-Enab village, Itay El-Baroud, has undergone replacement and renovation.

  • Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque in Imam Malik village, Wadi El-Natrun, has undergone replacement and renovation.

  • Abu Youssef Mosque in Baraka Ghattas village, Abu Hummus, has undergone maintenance and development.

  • Al-Kom Mosque No. 5 in Ezbet Badr, Rashid, has undergone maintenance and development.

Giza

  • Al-Salam Mosque in Ezbet Qout El-Quloub, El-Ayyat, has undergone replacement and renovation.

  • Abdel Gawad Abu Taleb Mosque in Ezbet Abu Taleb, Al-Saudiya village, El-Ayyat, has undergone replacement and renovation.
