Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf announced that 17 new mosques will be inaugurated on Friday, October 24, 2025, across 12 governorates, as part of its continuous plan to renovate, rebuild, and maintain houses of worship nationwide.
The new openings include 6 mosques that were fully rebuilt and 11 that were renovated and maintained, bringing the total number of mosques opened since July 2025 to 261, including 193 new or fully rebuilt and 68 maintained. Since July 2014, Egypt has witnessed the renovation and refurbishment of 13,750 mosques, at a total cost of 23.97 billion Egyptian pounds.

Qena: Al Ali Mosque – Nag’ Al Zahra; Al Rahman Mosque – Nag’ Gouda; Al Ateeq Mosque – Nag’ Al Ghleiz
Beheira: Omara Mosque – Kom Al Baraka, Kafr El Dawar
Fayoum: Ezbet Girgis Mosque – Abu Ksah, Ibshaway
Dakahlia: Al Rahman Mosque – Ezbet El-Hangeery, Dikirnis
Sohag: Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque – Nag’ Al-Karb, Jahina
Kafr El-Sheikh: Al Salam Mosque – Sidi Ghazi
Menoufia: Al Ikhlas Mosque – Saman Village, Al Bajour; Sayed Abdel Halim Mosque – Dalhamou, Ashmoun
Qalyubia: Al Mostafa Mosque – Dgwy, Benha; Al Rahma Mosque – Beltan, Tukh
Luxor: Abu Al Hassan Zekir Mosque – Qamoula; Abu Al Abbas Mosque – Al Hameidat, Esna
Minya: Al Kafafy Mosque – Al Hawarta, Minya
Aswan: Abu Bakr Al Sediq Mosque – Al Hebary, Edfu
Giza: Al Rahman Mosque – Bedaf, Al Ayat
The ministry emphasized that these projects reflect Egypt’s commitment to both the spiritual and structural development of mosques, providing suitable worship environments and promoting moderate religious understanding throughout the country.
