As part of Egypt’s comprehensive strategy to rebuild and modernize houses of worship, the Ministry of Awqaf has announced the opening of 20 new mosques tomorrow, Friday, October 10, 2025, across several governorates.
According to the ministry’s statement, 8 mosques have been completely rebuilt, while 12 others underwent major maintenance and renovation works including structural repairs, furnishing updates, and improvements to lighting and sound systems.
With these openings, the total number of mosques inaugurated since July 2025 has reached 222, of which 172 were newly constructed or rebuilt and 50 were maintained and restored.
The ministry further revealed that since July 2014, Egypt has witnessed the renovation and furnishing of 13,711 mosques nationwide, at a total cost exceeding 23.8 billion Egyptian pounds, reflecting the state’s deep commitment to maintaining the sanctity and comfort of worship places.
The newly opened mosques are spread across multiple governorates including Qena, Gharbia, Fayoum, Sharqia, Dakahlia, Aswan, Luxor, Assiut, Qalyubia, and Minya, covering both urban and rural areas. Each mosque was upgraded with modern facilities to ensure a peaceful and spiritually enriching environment for worshippers.
In its statement, the Ministry of Awqaf emphasized that these projects are part of a continuous effort to develop mosques both materially and spiritually, ensuring they remain vibrant centers for faith, community service, and social awareness.
