In a quiet moment between earth and sky, Muslims await the announcement of Egypt’s official fatwa authority to determine the first day of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

As Ramadan draws to a close, hearts turn toward the horizon where the Shawwal crescent is born, marking the beginning of Eid.

Astronomical calculations suggest that Friday, March 20, 2026 is likely to be the first day of Eid al-Fitr, meaning Ramadan will be 29 days this year.

However, the official confirmation depends on Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta, which will sight the crescent on the evening of Thursday, March 19.
If the crescent is seen, Eid falls on Friday. If not, Ramadan completes 30 days, and Eid will be on Saturday, March 21.

The crescent is expected to be visible for about 30–35 minutes after sunset in Egypt, offering a clear window for observation.

Eid prayer in Cairo is expected at 6:24 AM, where the echoes of praise rise with the dawn.

Eid Holiday 2026
The official holiday extends for 5 days, from Thursday, March 19 to Monday, March 23, allowing time for rest and celebration.

Eid Prayer
Performed in congregation, with extra declarations of praise—seven in the first unit of prayer and five in the second—creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

In the end, Eid is more than a date… it is a feeling of acceptance, a breath of hope, and a heart reborn after Ramadan.
