Evening Adhkar, or the remembrances recited in the evening, are among the acts of worship Muslims observe at the end of the day. They include Quranic verses, supplications and forms of remembrance reported in the Sunnah.

These Adhkar allow Muslims to renew their remembrance of Allah and ask Him for protection, forgiveness and well-being.

Quranic Verses in the Evening Adhkar

Ayat Al-Kursi

Allah says:

﴿Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth...﴾

Ayat Al-Kursi is recited once as part of the evening remembrance.

Surah Al-Ikhlas

﴿Say, He is Allah, One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.﴾

It is recited three times.

Surah Al-Falaq

﴿Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of what He has created, from the evil of the night when it settles, from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies.﴾

It is recited three times.

Surah An-Nas

﴿Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer, who whispers in the hearts of mankind, from among jinn and mankind.﴾

Evening Adhkar and Supplications

The Evening Supplication

“We have entered the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah. Praise belongs to Allah. There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs praise, and He is capable of all things...”

It is recited once.

Sayyid al-Istighfar

“O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I uphold Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.”

It is recited once.

Supplication for Well-Being

“O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth...”

This is among the supplications reported in the Sunnah.

Supplication of Contentment

“I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, as my Prophet.”

It is recited three times.

Seeking Refuge in Allah’s Perfect Words

“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”

It is recited three times.

Bismillah Supplication

“In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
