Sujood As-Sahw is one of the manifestations of ease in Islamic worship. It was prescribed to correct unintentional mistakes such as forgetfulness, hesitation, or extra actions during prayer without invalidating it or requiring repetition.

When a worshipper doubts the number of rak‘ahs, such as being unsure between one or two, or three or four, the rule is to assume the lesser number, complete the prayer, and then perform the two prostrations of forgetfulness.

If a person remembers after finishing the prayer that they missed a rak‘ah, they should complete it immediately and finish their prayer correctly, as long as the doubt is not a recurring obsession, which should be ignored in Islamic guidance.

The timing of Sujood As-Sahw varies depending on the type of mistake; it may be performed before the final salutation in cases of deficiency or doubt, and after it in cases of addition or stronger assumption, as established in prophetic traditions.

Ultimately, the purpose of Sujood As-Sahw is to remove hardship from the worshipper and preserve the serenity and perfection of prayer without anxiety or confusion.
