Ministry of Awqaf to Open 17 New Mosques Across 10 Governorates

Egypt's Ministry of Awqaf will inaugurate 17 mosques on Friday as part of its nationwide plan to build, renovate, and maintain houses of worship.

The Ministry of Awqaf continues its efforts to develop houses of God Almighty by opening 17 mosques tomorrow, Friday, August 7, 2026, as part of its ongoing plan to construct, replace, renovate, and maintain mosques across various governorates of the Republic, contributing to a suitable spiritual environment for worshippers.

Opening 17 Mosques Under the Ministry of Awqaf's Plan The Ministry of Awqaf explained that the mosques scheduled to open include one newly constructed mosque, the replacement and renovation of 10 mosques, and the maintenance and upgrading of 6 mosques, as part of the ministry's plan to develop houses of God materially, spiritually, and intellectually. The ministry also announced that the total number of mosques opened since early July 2026 to date has reached 115 mosques, including 73 newly constructed, replaced, or renovated mosques, and 42 mosques that underwent maintenance and restoration work.

Total Mosque Development Projects Since 2014 The Ministry of Awqaf emphasized that the total number of mosques replaced, renovated, maintained, and furnished since July 2014 has reached 14,794 mosques, with a total cost estimated at approximately 28 billion and 530 million Egyptian pounds, within the framework of the state's plan to develop mosque infrastructure nationwide.

Mosques Scheduled to Open by Governorate

  • Asyut Governorate:

    • Al-Aref Billah Mosque – Naje Mubarak – Dairut Center (replacement and renovation).

    • Al-Hijra Al-Nabawiyya Mosque – Bani Rafei Village – Manfalut Center (replacement and renovation).

  • Faiyum Governorate:

    • Al-Nour Mosque – Al-Siliyyin – Fidemin Village – Snuris Center.

    • Ezbet Abu Zaghil (Balsam Wisa) Mosque – Al-Sa'idiyya Village – Snuris Center.

  • Beheira Governorate:

    • Al-Mustafa Mosque – Al-Maseen Village – Delengat Center.

    • Al-Lahlah Mosque – Monsha'at Fadel Village – Delengat Center.

  • Beni Suef Governorate:

    • Al-Taqwa Mosque – Monsha'at Asim Village – Beni Suef Center (replacement and renovation).

    • Al-Sha'rawi Mosque – Belfia Village – Beni Suef Center (maintenance and upgrading).

  • Sharqia Governorate:

    • Ibad Al-Rahman Mosque – Mashtoul Al-Souk Center (replacement and renovation).

  • Kafr El Sheikh Governorate:

    • Fathallah Mosque – Ezbet Fathallah Hammad – Al-Hamra Village – Kafr El Sheikh Center.

  • Minya Governorate:

    • Al-Fath Mosque – Tanda Village – Mallawi Center.

  • Qena Governorate:

    • Al-Qawi Al-Mateen Mosque – Garagos Village – Qus Center (new construction).

    • Sidi Abdel-Qader Al-Jilani Mosque – Al-Rizqa Village – Abu Tesht Center (maintenance).

    • Al-Rahman Mosque – Al-Toud Village – Abu Tesht Center (maintenance).

    • Al-Ateeq Mosque – Bani Barza Village – Abu Tesht Center (maintenance).

  • Giza Governorate:

    • Malik Al-Mulk Mosque – Saqqara Area – Badrashin Center (maintenance and upgrading).

  • Qalyubia Governorate:

    • Al-Waheed Mosque – Ezbet Al-Remali – Monsha'at Banha Village – Banha Center (maintenance and upgrading).
