حكم صيام الست من شوال في ذي القعدة

In an important clarification, Dar al-Ifta of Egypt addressed the ruling on fasting the six days of Shawwal outside their prescribed month, highlighting the flexibility of Islamic law in acts of voluntary worship.

Ruling on Fasting Outside Shawwal

The ruling states that it is permissible for a Muslim who missed fasting the six days of Shawwal due to a legitimate excuse to make them up in the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah, with the hope of attaining the same reward.

Virtue of the Six Days of Shawwal

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he fasted the whole year,” emphasizing its great spiritual reward.

Making Up the Fasts

The fatwa clarifies that those who missed Ramadan fasting due to valid reasons and later made it up may also fast the six days afterward, even if Shawwal has ended.

Conclusion

Fasting is allowed beyond Shawwal when there is a valid excuse, and the believer is rewarded according to intention and effort.
