The Ministry of Awqaf announced the topic of the upcoming Friday sermon under the title “Say, ‘Reform for them is better’.” The first sermon focuses on encouraging the community to care for orphans and provide them with support and guidance to ensure their proper development, within the framework of humanitarian values promoted by Islam.

The second sermon is dedicated to warning about the danger of rumors, emphasizing the necessity for imams to adhere to the sermon topic and its allotted duration, highlighting the role of religious platforms in educating the community.

Rumors are considered among the most dangerous phenomena threatening social stability, as they spread rapidly, leading to misinformation, confusion, and weakening trust among community members, especially in light of the rapid development of modern communication tools that accelerate the spread of unreliable news.

The danger of rumors lies in their reliance on sensationalism and exaggeration without verification, making them an effective means of misleading public opinion and causing anxiety. Religious texts have warned against transmitting news without confirmation, emphasizing the importance of verification before promoting any information.

Quranic teachings and the Prophetic tradition also highlight the importance of verifying news, encouraging good assumptions, and avoiding hasty dissemination of false information, due to its negative effects on both individuals and society, including defamation, sedition, and weakening social cohesion.

Rumors affect individuals by causing psychological anxiety and damaging reputations, and their effects can extend to society, leading to loss of trust, destabilization, conflicts, and wasting efforts in tracking and responding to rumors instead of focusing on development and constructive work.
