Islam elevated the status of daughters, transforming what was once seen as a burden into one of the greatest sources of mercy and reward. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever raises three daughters, educates them, marries them off, and treats them kindly will have Paradise.”
He also said: “Whoever cares for two daughters until they reach maturity will come on the Day of Judgment with me like these two,” joining his fingers together.
Such is the reward for those who show compassion, nurture their daughters, and raise them upon faith and good manners.
A beautiful story narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) tells of a woman who came with two daughters asking for food. Aisha gave her a date, and she split it between her daughters without eating. When the Prophet ﷺ heard this, he said: “Whoever is tested with daughters and treats them kindly, they will be a shield for him from the Fire.”
Before Islam, Arabs despised the birth of daughters, burying them out of fear or shame. But Islam abolished this cruelty, declaring: “And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked, for what sin she was killed.”
Thus, Islam turned dishonor into dignity and oppression into mercy.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever has a daughter, and does not bury her alive, nor humiliate her, and does not prefer his sons over her — Allah will admit him into Paradise.”
Raising daughters in Islam is raising souls, nurturing future mothers, and shaping the moral fabric of society. A daughter brings light to the home, prayers to the heart, and blessings to the life of her parents.
Cherish your daughters — for in their smiles lies your sustenance in this world, and through their prayers may Allah grant you entry into eternal Paradise.
