Egypt’s official Fatwa authority is set to announce the fidyah amount for Ramadan 2026 for individuals permanently unable to fast due to chronic illness or medical incapacity.

According to Egypt’s Grand Mufti, those temporarily unable to fast must make up missed days later. However, individuals permanently unable to fast must provide fidyah — feeding one needy person per missed day.

The required amount equals half a sa‘ of the staple food of the country (approximately 1.5 kg of wheat, rice, dates, or similar). It may be given as food or its monetary equivalent.

The expected minimum monetary fidyah for 2026 is estimated between EGP 35 and 40 per day, pending official confirmation.
