In an effort to regulate the use of mosque annexes and enhance their community role, the Ministry of Religious Endowments has launched an online service allowing citizens to apply for the use of mosque annexes through a national digital platform. This initiative targets individuals interested in utilizing these spaces for various service and development-oriented activities, while ensuring strict adherence to guidelines that preserve the sanctity of mosques.

Applicants are required to submit their requests through the platform, specifying the nature of the intended activity, along with paying a non-refundable deposit of 1000 EGP as a serious application fee. This amount is fully refundable if the application is rejected, but it is counted toward the contract security deposit if approved, and is forfeited if the applicant withdraws after acceptance.

The ministry clarified that all contracting procedures must be completed within 15 days from the date of approval. These procedures include paying a security deposit equivalent to three months of usufruct fees as determined by the relevant committee. The annex is advertised for 15 days from the receipt of the first application, and final decisions are made within one month after the application period closes through a public bidding process held at the local directorate.

The ministry emphasized that proposed activities must not conflict with the sanctity of the mosque. Permitted uses include community service projects such as Quran memorization centers, nurseries, tailoring workshops, language and computer training centers, speech and skill development centers, as well as clinics and medical facilities, all contributing to valuable services for the surrounding community.
