حكم قضاء صيام رمضان بسبب الحيض وفق دار الإفتاء المصرية

Dar Al-Ifta continues to clarify Islamic rulings related to acts of worship as part of its awareness campaign aimed at correcting common misconceptions. Among the key rulings addressed is the issue of making up missed Ramadan fasts due to menstruation.

Fasting During Menstruation in Ramadan

Dar Al-Ifta confirms that menstruating and postpartum women must break their fast during Ramadan, and fasting during this period is not permissible. If they do fast, the fast is considered invalid.

Obligation to Make Up Missed Fasts

Scholars unanimously agree that women must make up the days they missed due to menstruation. However, this obligation is flexible in timing, as it may be fulfilled anytime within the year before the next Ramadan.

Flexibility in Making Up Fasts

It is not required for the missed fasts to be completed consecutively. Women may make them up either consecutively or separately depending on their ability, based on narrations from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who used to make up her missed Ramadan fasts in Sha’ban.

Ease in Islamic Law

The ruling reflects the ease and mercy of Islamic law, which considers women’s circumstances while maintaining the obligation of worship in a balanced and practical way.
