Ruling on Wearing Stitched Clothing in Ihram for Men – Fatwa Clarifies the Issue
A fatwa official explained the ruling on men wearing stitched clothing during Ihram, outlining the proper dress code for Hajj and its religious guidelines.
In a clarification relevant to pilgrims, Dar Al-Ifta addressed the issue of men wearing stitched clothing during Ihram and whether it affects the validity of Hajj rituals.
First: Ihram attire for men
The fatwa official stated that Ihram for men has a specific form in Islamic law, consisting of two unstitched garments (Izar and Rida), representing the simple and prescribed dress for pilgrimage.
Second: Wearing stitched clothing during Ihram
He explained that wearing stitched clothing during Ihram is considered a violation of the rules, and whoever does so must immediately remove it and return to the correct Ihram attire. However, this does not invalidate Hajj but requires correction.
Third: Women’s Ihram clothing
Women are allowed to wear regular stitched clothing while maintaining modesty, without a specific color requirement, and they must not cover the face and hands during Ihram.
