Sheikh Khaled El-Gendy, member of Egypt’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, highlighted that real wealth is the richness of the soul, not the abundance of money. He explained that the story of the two men in the Quran is a timeless reminder that material success can blind the heart, while faith and gratitude bring true peace.
During his appearance on “Liahom Yafqahoun” broadcast on dmc, El-Gendy explained that the verse “And present to them an example of two men” was intentionally general to show that faith is revealed through actions and responses to life’s trials, not through wealth or appearance.
He stated that one man was blessed with two gardens full of grapes and crops, yet his pride distanced him from God, while the other—though poor—was granted something far greater: the gift of contentment and spiritual peace.
El-Gendy added that this inner contentment reflects the essence of true richness, as it brings harmony and prevents envy or resentment. He noted that the poor man was richer in faith, while the wealthy man remained spiritually impoverished despite his possessions.
He concluded with a profound message: “True wealth is not in having more, but in needing less. The content heart is richer than all the treasures of the world.”
