Egypt's Ministry of Awqaf has announced the launch of the preliminary oral qualifiers for the second season of the State of Recitation competition, aiming to discover outstanding Qur'an reciters and encourage talented memorizers of the Holy Qur'an.
Competition Dates and Venue
The qualifiers will take place from July 26 to August 3, 2026, at Al-Maghfira Mosque in Agouza, Giza Governorate, for contestants from Giza and Qalyubia. The ministry has also published the names of participants eligible to take the oral examinations.
Eligibility Requirements
Participation is limited to applicants who fully meet the competition's conditions.
Who Cannot Participate?
The following categories are not eligible: Official Qur'an reciters accredited by the Egyptian Radio and Television Union. Official Ministry of Awqaf reciters. Contestants who previously reached the final stage of the first season of the State of Recitation competition. The ministry emphasized that any participant found ineligible at any stage will be immediately disqualified.
Registration and Attendance Schedule
Contestants will be received daily starting at 9:00 a.m., according to the published schedule, and are required to arrive on time.
Required Documents
For All Participants
Copy of the National ID card. Original ID card for verification. One recent 4×6 cm personal photo.
For Junior Participants
Copy of the birth certificate. Copy of the guardian's National ID card.
Purpose of the Competition
The Ministry of Awqaf stated that the State of Recitation competition aims to identify exceptional Qur'an reciters, encourage memorization of the Holy Qur'an, and prepare a new generation of distinguished reciters according to the highest academic and Islamic standards.
