Tomorrow, Friday… 20 new mosques will open their doors to worshippers.

The Ministry of Awqaf continues its nationwide mosque development plan by opening 20 newly built and renovated mosques across several governorates.

The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf is set to inaugurate 20 mosques this Friday, January 2, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop and maintain mosques across the country.


The openings include one newly constructed mosque, 16 mosques that have undergone full renovation and replacement, and three mosques that received maintenance and upgrading works, reflecting the ministry’s comprehensive approach to mosque development.


According to official statements, the total number of mosques opened since July 2025 has reached 413, including 313 newly built or fully renovated mosques and 100 mosques that have been maintained and upgraded. Since July 2014, more than 13,900 mosques have been developed nationwide at a total cost exceeding EGP 24.5 billion.


The mosques scheduled for opening are spread across multiple governorates, including Sohag, Minya, Beheira, Giza, Gharbia, Beni Suef, Matrouh, Qalyubia, Sharqia, Fayoum, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Aswan, highlighting the geographic diversity of the development plan.


The Ministry of Awqaf reaffirmed that these efforts aim to provide suitable spiritual environments for worshippers while enhancing the religious, cultural, and community role of mosques throughout Egypt.
