Is it permissible to perform Umrah after Hajj?.. Dar al-Ifta clarifies the ruling and legal guidelines

Dar al-Ifta of Egypt has explained the Islamic ruling regarding performing Umrah after completing the Hajj pilgrimage, in response to a question from a pilgrim about the permissibility of entering Ihram for Umrah immediately after finishing the rituals.

Ruling on performing Umrah after Hajj

Dar al-Ifta confirmed that performing Umrah after completing Hajj rituals is permissible in Islamic law. In fact, it is recommended for those who wish to do so to enter Ihram from the area of al-Tan’im or from the Mosque of Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).

Conditions of Ihram for Umrah after Hajj

It is required for the validity of entering Ihram for Umrah after Hajj that the pilgrim has completed the stoning of the Jamarat on the third day and has performed Tawaf al-Ifadah, so that they have fully exited the state of Hajj rituals.

Dar al-Ifta stated that the general rule is that Ihram is for one Umrah only. Scholars differ regarding a person who intends two Umrahs at the same time; some consider only one valid while the other is void, with various detailed juristic opinions.

Virtue of Umrah in Islam
