Sports critic Mohamed Bahi revealed details of the procedures followed by the Competitions Committee, explaining that it holds weekly meetings to review match observers’ reports and examine incidents that may require further consideration.
His comments come amid the controversy surrounding the Tanta vs Al Nasr match and the events that reportedly occurred during and after the game.
📢 The Match Observer’s Report Is the Main Reference
Speaking on the “Stad Masr” program, hosted by media presenter Abdel Nasser Zidan on Modern MTI, Mohamed Bahi said: “The Competitions Committee meets every week and discusses the observers’ reports for every match. If there are videos with the report, I saw the observer at the Tanta vs Al Nasr match filming with his mobile phone, and that helps him when writing the report.”
Bahi explained that the match observer’s report is the main document considered by the Competitions Committee when reviewing incidents, while footage recorded by the observer can help document the details included in the report.
🟨 Video Footage Is Referred to the Disciplinary Committee
The sports critic added: “The Competitions Committee relies only on the report, while the videos are referred to the Disciplinary Committee. The fact that only the goalkeeping coach’s name was issued confirms that he was the name included in the match report.”
According to Bahi’s explanation, the Competitions Committee and the Disciplinary Committee have different roles, with the former reviewing the observer’s official report while video material can be sent to the body responsible for disciplinary matters.

Mohamed Bahi also discussed the referee’s responsibilities after the final whistle, explaining that the referee leaves the field after the match and is therefore not responsible for incidents that occur afterward, unless he directly witnesses something while leaving the stadium area.
He said: “After the match, the referee leaves the field and is not responsible for anything that happens afterward, unless he sees something with his own eyes while leaving the field.”
His comments highlight the distinction between incidents occurring during the match and those taking place after the game, as well as the different mechanisms used to document and report them.
🔍 Bahi Praises the Strength of the Third Division
Bahi also discussed the technical level of the Egyptian Third Division, stressing that the competition is highly competitive and that some groups include clubs with previous experience at higher levels.
“The Third Division is very strong. In the first group, there are eight teams that used to play in the Premier League B, and El Tahrir Aswan has played a lot at higher levels, has Premier League experience and includes talented players,” he said.
The presence of clubs with experience in higher divisions, alongside players familiar with more competitive environments, adds greater quality and intensity to Third Division matches.
