In a new episode of Zamalek Club’s ongoing registration crises, sources have revealed the reason behind the latest FIFA decision, which marks the 16th registration ban imposed on the club.
Former coach’s complaint sparks the issue
According to the sources, the new ban stems from a complaint submitted by former head coach Yannick Ferreira, who demanded his outstanding financial dues from the club.
Outstanding financial claims
Ferreira is reportedly seeking around $450,000, representing the remaining value of his contract—equivalent to approximately eight months of salary, which was still due before his departure.
Failed settlement attempt
Reports indicate that Zamalek’s management had previously reached a settlement agreement with the coach to pay only half of the due amount. However, financial difficulties at the time prevented the agreement from being finalized, escalating the case to FIFA.
Continued registration crisis
This latest decision adds further complexity to the club’s registration situation, amid ongoing efforts to resolve outstanding financial disputes and lift international sanctions.
Team continues preparations
Meanwhile, Zamalek’s first-team squad departed Cairo for Algeria to prepare for the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final against USM Alger, set to be held at the 5 July 1962 Stadium.
