The Al-Azhar Fatwa Center clarified that a wife’s act of giving charity from her husband’s money is governed by precise Islamic rulings that prioritize ownership rights and consent. Charity from valuable or significant amounts is not permissible without the husband’s explicit permission or clear evidence of his approval.

The center explained that if the charity involves small amounts that are customarily accepted by the husband, there is no harm in the wife giving such charity. This falls within permissible conduct and may bring reward, provided that it does not harm the family or compromise obligatory financial responsibilities.

The ruling is supported by Prophetic traditions indicating that reward is granted to all parties involved in lawful spending without corruption, including the husband, the wife, and those assisting in the process. Scholars also indicate that a wife may manage everyday household matters, such as preparing food, within the limits of customary consent.

The fatwa further explains that the concept of “small discretionary giving” refers to minor amounts that a wife reasonably knows her husband would approve of, allowing her to earn reward while staying within ethical and legal boundaries.

In conclusion, the ruling establishes a clear principle: a wife may give charity from small amounts that are commonly accepted by her husband, but if she knows he would not approve, or if the money is of considerable value, she must obtain prior permission before disposing of it.
