Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta emphasized that caring about one’s appearance for a spouse, using beautiful expressions, and choosing kind words can help increase affection and strengthen family stability and happiness, while avoiding excess and exaggeration.
The institution explained that married life is not limited to rights and duties. It is also based on tranquility, affection, tolerance, mutual consent, and good companionship, all of which contribute to a stable relationship built on understanding and compassion.
The Importance of Grooming and Kind Words Between Spouses
Dar Al-Ifta noted that both spouses paying attention to their appearance and using considerate language in everyday interactions can have a positive effect on their relationship and strengthen feelings of affection.
Good treatment is not limited to outward appearance. It also includes the way spouses communicate, express appreciation, and show gratitude, helping create a calmer and more understanding family environment.
At the same time, the institution stressed the importance of avoiding excessive attention to appearance or unnecessary affectation and maintaining moderation in marital life.
“Do Not Forget Graciousness Between You”
Dar Al-Ifta cited the Quranic verse: “And do not forget graciousness between you” [Quran 2:237], emphasizing the importance of mutual kindness and consideration between spouses.
The guidance highlights the value of treating one another with goodness and tolerance and recognizing what each spouse contributes to the relationship, thereby strengthening affection and understanding within the family.
Dar Al-Ifta Warns Against Revealing Marital Secrets
In a related message, Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta stressed that revealing household secrets is prohibited in Islamic teachings and that neither spouse should disclose intimate relationship details or private matters of the home unless there is a legitimate necessity.

Why Should Marital Privacy Be Protected?

Protecting marital privacy can also help preserve trust between the two partners and prevent problems that may arise when private details are shared with others.
The “Bonds That Cannot Be Broken” Campaign
