What did the Prophet ﷺ do between Maghrib and ‘Isha? A great act of worship many people have neglected
Did you know there is a prayer between Maghrib and Isha that many overlook but carries immense reward? Learn about this prophetic practice and its virtues.
The period between Maghrib and Isha offers a precious opportunity for worship. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regularly performed a prayer known as the Prayer of Neglect or Salat al-Awwabin, a voluntary act of devotion with great spiritual reward.
Tradition mentions performing 2 to 20 voluntary units (rak’ahs) during this time, focusing on sincerity and remembrance of Allah, free from idle conversation or worldly distractions. Those who regularly observe this prayer receive a reward equivalent to many years of worship.
Evening supplications are highly recommended, including reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas three times each, along with protective du’as for safety, guidance, and forgiveness. Repeated dhikr and glorification of Allah enhance the spiritual benefits of this time.
This prayer is called the Prayer of Neglect because many overlook it amidst daily routines. Those who commit to it draw closer to Allah, safeguarded from worries and harms.
