Dr. Atiya Lashin, Professor of Comparative Jurisprudence and member of Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee, clarified that inheritance between spouses depends on the marriage being valid at the time of death.
In the case of a final divorce (Talaq Baina), which permanently ends the marital relationship, the wife does not inherit from her husband if he dies after the divorce, even if death occurs during the waiting period ('Iddah).
Dr. Lashin added that revocable divorce (Talaq Raj'i) is different; if the husband dies during the wife's waiting period after a revocable divorce, she may inherit according to Islamic law. However, a final divorce eliminates her inheritance rights entirely.
Thus, in the case where the husband dies 11 days after a final divorce, the wife has no entitlement to his inheritance.
