The Islamic Research Academy emphasized that charity isn’t limited to money — it includes every good deed that benefits others and pleases Allah. Charity is among the greatest acts of worship, bringing blessings, forgiveness, and divine mercy.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Every Muslim must give charity.”
They asked: “What if he has nothing?”
He said: “He should work with his hands to benefit himself and give in charity.”
They asked: “What if he cannot?”
He said: “Then he should help someone in need.”
They asked: “What if he cannot?”
He said: “Then he should enjoin good.”
They asked: “What if he cannot?”
He said: “Then he should refrain from evil, and that is charity.”
Agreed upon.

In another narration, the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Your smile for your brother is charity; your command of good and forbidding of evil is charity; removing harm from the path is charity.”

Virtues of Charity:

Extinguishes God’s anger and erases sins.

Protects from Hellfire, even with half a date.

Provides shade on the Day of Judgment.

A cause for healing and wellness.

Increases blessings in wealth and life.

Earns the prayers of angels.

Brings peace and joy to the heart.

Opens the gate of Paradise known as “the Gate of Charity.”

Charity Is for Everyone
Not everyone can give money, but every believer can give: through a smile, a kind word, a helping hand, or spreading good.

True charity is not in how much you give — but in how sincerely you give it for Allah’s sake.
“And whoever is protected from the greed of his soul — it is those who will be successful.”
