Ahmed Raafat Mohamed El-Sayed Hassanein Ahmed El-Sabbagh is an Egyptian specialist in clinical biomechanics for musculoskeletal and spinal diseases. He is known for describing two new syndromes named after him, "Raafat Syndrome 1" and "Raafat Syndrome 2," which were first announced in 2018 and later published in international scientific journals in 2024. This made him the first Egyptian and Arab to describe a medical syndrome in decades.
Personal Biography
Ahmed Raafat El-Sayed was born on May 28, 1987, in Cairo to Egyptian parents. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he grew up and received his primary education, as his father, Dr. Raafat El-Sayed, worked as a pediatrician. He returned to Egypt for high school and completed his pre-university education at Al-Makrizy School in Heliopolis, Cairo.
Ahmed enrolled in the Faculty of Physical Therapy at Cairo University, where he graduated with honors, ranking first in his class. He received recognition from the university for his academic excellence.
Professional Career
After his graduation, Ahmed Raafat El-Sayed was appointed as a faculty member at Cairo University in the Department of Biomechanics, Faculty of Physical Therapy. He became well-known for his engaging teaching style and gained wide recognition among his students and colleagues due to his precise specialization in clinical biomechanics.
Contributions
